Coming off his fourth season with the club, Affeldt was 1-2 during the regular season displaying a 2.70 ERA in 67 games allowing 57 hits, 19 earned runs, one homer and 57 strikeouts in 63.1 innings. He saved three games in four opportunities and opponents batted .241 against him this season.
Lefties had a batting average of .236 and righties batted .244 off him. Affeldt was dominant following the All-Star break holding opponents to a .214 batting average in 36 games.
The 33-year-old was even better in the postseason showcasing a 0.00 ERA in 10 games surrendering just five hits and striking out 10 in 10.1 innings as the opposition batted .139 off him.
