Giants catcher Buster Posey was named Comeback Player of the Year, third baseman Pablo Sandoval won the Postseason MVP, pitcher Matt Cain earned pitching performance of the year and pitcher Sergio Romo took home top setup reliever honors.
Posey returned from a devastating injury in 2011 winning the National League MVP and NL batting title proving he was fully recovered in 2012. Sandoval homered three times in Game 1 of the World Series on his way to capturing series MVP. Cain pitched the 22nd and first perfect game in Giants history back on June 13 in a 10-0 win. Romo displayed a 1.79 ERA, fourth best among NL relievers and held opponents to a .176 batting average with runners in scoring position.
In other news, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle is reporting the Giants have exercised 2014 options on manager Bruce Bochy and General Manager Brian Sabean. The Giants hired Bochy back in October 2006 and Sabean is the longest-tenured GM in baseball since 1996.Tags: Baseball, MLB, San Francisco, San Francisco Giants
