The San Francisco Giants have signed right-handed pitcher Mason Tobin to a Minor League contract that includes an invitation to Spring Training.
The 25-year-old pitched briefly in the Major Leagues back in April 2011 with the Texas Rangers before undergoing his second Tommy John surgery after injuring his throwing elbow. Tobin went 0-0 producing a 6.75 ERA in four games allowing five hits, five runs and one home run with the opposition batting .278 in 5.1 innings.
Tobin pitched in the minors from 2007-2009 with the Rangers and Los Angeles Angeles of Anaheim going 6-4 with a 2.43 ERA in 25 games. He started 21 games surrendering 71 hits, 32 runs, 75 strikeouts, three homers and opponents batted .211 off him in 96.1 innings.
