Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com is reporting three members of the San Francisco Giants will not play in the upcoming World Baseball Classic due to various injuries.
Andres Torres has a strained oblique that was aggravated batting left-handed and will be out of action for at least a week, making him unavailable for Team Puerto Rico.
Left-handed reliever Jose Mijares will miss the WBC due to elbow tenderness and will not play for Team Venezuela.
Left-handed reliever Javier Lopez took himself off Puerto Rico's roster before he bruised his left hand.
The Giants now have eight participants in the WBC.
